Halloween is a fun time of year for people and pets alike! But remember, not all Halloween activities are pet-friendly. Keep these pet safety tips in mind as you enjoy your Halloween festivities!
Halloween is fun, but some Halloween traditions are not so appealing…like the tricks side of Halloween! It’s best to keep pets indoors and away from the doors during trick-or-treat times to prevent any frights, injuries or risk of running off.
Keep pumpkins away from pets—especially ones with candles! There’s always the risk of knocking over the pumpkin and risking a burn to themselves or a fire for your house. The same goes for any wires or electric light cords. A curious pet could chew through them and cause a spark or even shock themselves.
Make sure your pet has an ID tag or other form of identification, just in case they do happen to escape or become lost. On top of that, it’s best to have your pet try on their costume before Halloween night, just to make sure they’re okay with it. Don’t dress your pet in a costume unless you know they’ll love it. If they become distressed or show abnormal behavior, a festive bandana may be a better route.
As always, have a safe and fun Halloween!
